The Louie Zorrilla, Sr. Memorial / Chino Hills Junior All-American Football and Cheer Scholarship
 



 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

The Louie Zorrilla, Sr. Memorial Golf Tournament will award merit-based scholarships for $1,000 to $1,500 to two (2) deserving high school seniors.  Funds can be used for regular under-graduate college expenses, including tuition, room and board, books and other college related expenses.

To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must:

  • Have participated in CHJAAF a minimum of two full seasons as a football player or cheerleader.
  • Have a minimum unweighted grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B) from freshman year through fall semester of senior year (7 total semesters).
  • Have taken the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT I) or American College Test (ACT) or PSAT
  • * The SAT or ACT writing scores will not be included for the scholarship decision.

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

The following items must be submitted so that it is received by CHJAAF no later than 4p.m. Tuesday May 26, 2009.  No incomplete package will be accepted.  Application Packages are available online at www.chjaaf.org or from your high school counselor.

  1. Complete Scholarship Application
  2. Copy of official (school stamp or seal) transcript(s) of all high school records.
  3. One copy of Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT I), American College Test (ACT) or PSAT score report. (SAT score report not needed if score is shown on School Transcript)
  4. Student Essay of 250 to 300 words on one of the following three topics.  Essay must be typed.                  i. Explain Activities that you have pursued in your community and/or school and what impact these activities have made in your life. ii. Discuss a person that has influenced you the most on your way to adulthood. iii. Describe your CHJAAF experience and how you have carried over what you learned into your life today.
  5. Three letters of recommendation.  We suggest that comments include character, leadership and involvement in activities.  At least one of the letters must come from your high school counselor or teacher.  Letters from family members are not acceptable.

Completed application package must be received by May 26, 2009.  
Winners will be notified by June 12th.

SELECTION CRITERIA
The criteria for selecting scholarship recipients will be based upon the following:
1)       Scholastic Achievement
2)       Typed Essay
3)       Three letters of recommendation
4)       Service or leadership in school or community
5)       Quality and completeness of application package
6)       Recipients will be invited by CHJAAF to the Louis Zorrilla Memorial Golf Tournament Banquet at which time the award winners will be acknowledged.
7)       Recipients will not receive actual funds until proof of acceptance and enrollment on a full-time basis at a college or university is provided.
